With great joy the Greeks defeated the Persians in Marathon. Pheidippides sent a messenger to deliver the news to the people of Athens. The Greeks were so exhausted as the battle came to the end.
Pheidippides ran from the city of Marathon and to Athens. He felt so sweaty they ran for so long and worked so hard to run for such a long time under the sun. They never gave up on running under the sun, they just kept on running.
‘’Joy! We won!’’ shouted Pheidippides as he arrived at Athens. Then sadly he dies.
